Capable Strides

  • Volunteer opportunity for adults wtih IDD. Every Wednesday 8:30-10:00am. Help with morning barn and garden chores. Some restrictions apply due to safety concerns.

Empowered Strides

Girls, Ages 10 to 15

July 24th to 28th, 8:30 - 12:30 pm

  • The focus of this camp is to create an atmosphere of curiosity and peer support providing the emotional safety to experience new things. Campers will partner with horses in equine facilitated activities and learn skills once essential to farm life. Arts/crafts projects will center around skills like sewing, working with tools and using crops grown on the farm to make jam/pickle and create soap/beauty products). (This is not a riding camp)

Growing Strides

Ages 10 to Adult

  • This equine facilitated learning program teaches basic horse care and handling skills(groundwork only, no riding) to individuals while demonstrating how this knowledge applies to everyday life. There will be an emphasis on “growing” confidence, assertiveness, communication and boundary setting skills, an understanding of responsibilities, and development of empathy towards others.
  • The cost of this 8-week program is $40 per session ($280 total). A $35 deposit is required to hold spot. There are a few scholarships available based on referrals demonstrating financial need granted on first come basis.

Growing Strides for Parents

  • This four week program is designed to help parents understand their introvert/extrovert child, improve their communication and boundary setting skills, assertiveness, and ability to respond with empathy. $40 per session/per person. Sessions scheduled between 10 am - 2pm. Tues, Wed or Thurs.

Hanging with the herd

1st Friday of each month from 12-1:00 P.M.

  • A great way for you and friends or co-workers experiencing stress/grief to bond while spending time on the farm with our herd. Learn regulating techniques like mindfulness to see how horses stay calm and live in the moment. You will be introduced to the herd members and groom them, love on them, or just hang out. Bring your lunch if you like. Follow us on FaceBook for theme weeks.

Caring Strides

Flexible scheduling

  • Workshop on selfcare supporting Mint Hill nonprofit and church leaders and their volunteers. This two hour workshop is provided for free for a max of 10 attendees per session. A $100 deposit required to reserve session date, refunded upon attendance of at least 5 attendees. Education on self care and activities with the horses to promote mental health. Liimited to one free session per np/church.

Healing Strides

These workshops for healthcare workers and first responders are provided through a community grant from Novant Health Mint Hill Medical Center. Created to help frontline workers feeling burdened by workplace stress who are experiencing anxiety, burnout or grief. The sessions will be divided between psycho-education and activities with the horses to help participants find their best solutions. No horse experience necessary. Sign up for one or all.

Horse School for Homeschoolers/Scouts/Clubs

  • Attention Homeschoolers and Scouts! MSR provides educational experiences to small groups of 4-12 students. Choose math, history, or working farm module. Math module demonstrates practical ways math is used on a working farm. Students will be able to participate in hands on activities applying math principles needed to feed and care for horses and properly maintain a farm.
  • The history module teaches how horses helped shape civilization from the time they were first domesticated until present day. The working farm module teaches basic horse care and students participate in morning or afternoon chores.
